Mystics Old & New

‘The Christian of the future will be a mystic or he will not exist at all.’

So wrote the great German Jesuit Karl Rahner. Throughout history there have been men and women mystics, people who have had a genuine experience of God coming, not from the head but from their heart and the very essence of themselves, and whose experience has transformed their lives and made them into generous disciples.

This Autumn we're delighted to welcome back our friend, Jesuit Brendan Comerford, for a new season on the mystics. In this series Brendan will first go back in time to introduce us to Catherine of Siena, Julian of Norwich & Teresa of Avila, before presenting some outstanding figures of faith and great mystics of the 20th Century: John XXIII, Thomas Merton and Oscar Romero. All of these mystics, whether 'old' or new', have so much to teach us about what our faith means and trusting what our hearts truly desire....

Brendan is a wonderful story-teller & teacher. He invites all participants to take a rest from note-taking and just enjoy the evening, safe in the knowledge that he will give everyone the notes and sayings from each of the mystics he covers at the end of the evening.

Dates: Monday evenings:18th & 25th September; 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd October 2017. The mystics will be presented in the following order: Catherine of Siena, Julian of Norwich, Teresa of Avila, John XXIII, Thomas Merton & Oscar Romero.

Time: 8:00 – 9:30 pm.

Venue: The Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill.

Cost: €10.00 per evening (€50 for all 6 evenings).

Booking is advised. For all further information about this new series of evenings on the mystics, please use our Contact us page.
