'As a woman, it was refreshing to have pieces of scripture selected which were primarily about women. One story in particular I had never heard before. The excellent preparation and facilitation meant that each session progressed gently and quietly, providing opportunities for thought and mindfulness. Having three ladies to facilitate the group was more than refreshing. I found it thought-provoking and empowering.
Women of the Well

Women of the Well began as a series of for women that ran through the Winter into Spring. Focusing each time on a different woman from Scripture and through prayerful reflection and sharing, with the help of the example of various contemporary women from around the world, each session explores various aspects of women’s spirituality. Flexible and participative it is hoped these sessions provide a space of creativity and encouragement for women, a life-giving space that energises all the aspects of our daily lives and commitments.
Each session concludes with a simple ritual which invites us to continue reflecting on the session's theme and what we each have discovered in the depths of our own well within...
In order to attend these evenings there is no need to have had any previous experience or involvement in spirituality. All we ask is an open mind and a willingness to be pleasantly surprised!
Women of the Well has led to other women-centred events either within the Centre or elsewhere.
Like the ‘Woman at the Well’ in John’s Gospel women today are thirsting to understand how Scripture speaks to them through women and as women, and gives hope and meaning to their daily lives.
This is the basis of our popular programme, 'Women of the Well', which continues in 2016 in the form of a weekend retreat which will take place in Knock.
Focusiing on the story of the 'Woman of the Well', the retreat will offer different moments of prayer, reflection and sharing in an atmosphere of creativity and mutual encouragement. Listening to ourselves and to the voices of some of our sisters from around the world we hope to rediscover the living water that has its source in the depths of our own hearts...
