Fáilte roimh a Tearmann Iognáid!
Welcome to Tearmann Iognáid, the Jesuit Centre for Spirituality & Culture in Galway.
Here in the Jesuit Centre of Spirituality & Culture, Galway we offer space and opportunity to explore the deeper questions of life in the context of Christian faith and prayer.
We are a team of Jesuits and friends who draw our inspiration from St Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits. Like Ignatius we invite others to join us in our search for God’s presence in the world around us and in all the ups and downs of our daily lives. Like Ignatius we hope to become ‘contemplatives in action’, aware of God’s spirit in the choices we make and guided by God’s Spirit in all that we do.
We are a Centre of ‘Spirituality & Culture’ which means we are sensitive not only to our Irish roots and the Irish dimension of life here in the West of Ireland but also to multicultural Ireland, an Ireland which is now home to people from many different backgrounds and traditions, including faith traditions. We are all making our lives here as one community and so we are sensitive to everything that helps us appreciate and respect our differences and celebrate our diversity.
‘Spirituality & Culture’ also refers to our experience of life today, the questions we ask and where or how we seek some answers, the way we live and consider each other’s needs, our use of the world’s resources, modern media and technology, our daily diet in all senses of the term!
We hope that the Jesuit Centre of Spirituality & Culture here in the heart of Galway city may provide you with both food for thought and nourishment for the journey.
